There are several ports and launch ramps around Lake Okeechobee, the three most popular port and launch area are the town of Okeechobee on the north end of the lake, Clewiston on the southwest shore of the Lake Okeechobee, and Belle Glade on the far southeastern shore. Okeechobee City and Clewiston provide the best access to the lake with many places to fish. Both have great marina facility with all the amenities an angler could need.
Lake Okeechobee is a wonderful year-round fishery, but the months of November through the end of June are the most popular times to fish on Lake Okeechobee. The average water temps on the lake are around 70-80 degrees during the spring months and in the summer month, the water temps will reach 85-90 degrees. The bass spawn from late November through the end of May which makes Lake Okeechobee one of the longest spawning periods in the country.
